I recognize that the usual inclination for a Libertarian would be to vote “No” on this, because it’s forcing something onto business, and we normally ask that the “free market” take care of things. In this case, I would urge each Libertarian to do his or her own research on GMO foods. I believe that one word will jump out at you in every article you read : Monsanto. To call this company a giant or behemoth is not an exaggeration. I believe the seriousness of this one mega-company threatening to change our entire food supply trumps asking for foods in this state to be labeled. The free market will work best when consumers have a choice of what to buy. They won’t be able to do that unless they know which foods are genetically modified, and which are not. I urge a Yes vote on 37.
